Mika Häkkinen and Jenson Button Burn Their Initials on the Ashpalt with a C63 AMG : On Fire

It's a strange cocktail to say the least: two of the world's finest professional drivers, two-time F1 champion Mika Häkkinen and 2009 F1 champ Jenson Button, get into a 450-horsepower Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG sports saloon to promote a 'don't drink and drive' campaign from renowned Scotch whiskey brand Johnny Walker by burning their initials on the asphalt.

U.S. to Miss Out on Street Legal SLS AMG GT3, Perhaps Even the E-Cell, But will get the Black Series

Fast Cars

If the standard SLS AMG with its 6.3-liter engine and 571-horses is not hot enough for you, you’ll be happy to learn that Mercedes-Benz has told Motor Trend that the company will launch not one, but two hotter versions of its supercar.

“We absolutely have to do a Black Series SLS AMG”, said Tobias Moers who is a member of the board of directors and head of vehicle development at AMG. Although he declined to provide further details, judging from recent Black Series versions such as the C 63 Coupe, we can expect more power and, of course, an impressive aero-kit and race-inspired interior.

The Black Series, however, will look tame compared to the road-legal version of the SLS AMG GT3 racer, which will be created to homologate it for Europe.

Unfortunately, it won't be heading over to this side of the Atlantic due to the massive cost of re-certifying it for the States. “AMG does not make money losing projects. We can’t afford to,” said Moers.

The 2013 SLS E-Cell electric version may be another SLS that may not cross the Atlantic. Mercedes hasn’t yet ruled out bringing the 525HP pure electric supercar to the US, but once again, the company officials are contemplating whether or not the sales volume will justify the cost of the re-certification.

IAA 2011: New Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Coupé Black Series with Aero and Track Packages

Mercedes C AMG

We first gave you a taste of the new C63 AMG Coupe Black Series fitted with the special track and aerodynamic packages back in August when we spied a prototype testing at the Nürburgring, but Mercedes-Benz showed the production model at this week's Frankfurt Auto Show.

Available as separate options on the limited edition C63 AMG Coupe Black Series, which is powered by a 6.2-liter V8 pushing out 517-horses, the AMG Track and Aerodynamic Packages were designed to further enhance the two-door model's driving dynamics.

The Track package adds 255/35 R 19 front and 285/30 R 19 rear sports tires from Dunlop with or without matt black alloys wheels, and an ative rear-axle transmission cooling that is said to improves performance in harsh race-track conditions.

The AMG Aerodynamics package comprises of carbon fibre front flics located on the front apron, carbon fibre front lip spoiler and a fixed carbon-fibre rear wing with an adjustable blade, all of which are designed to increase the lift at the front and rear axles.

Buyers willing to dig deeper into their bank accounts can further enhance the coupe with numerous carbon fibre bits such as exterior mirror housings, inserts on the side sill panel, diffuser insert, spoiler lip, and interior trim parts, plus a keyless-go system, Intelligent Light System ILS, a fire extinguisher and tinted side and rear windows.
